A total of 33,998 people have now died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus, according to the Department of Health.
The death toll is up by 384 from 33,614 at the same point on Thursday. The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus is now up to 236,711 - a rise of 3,560 from 233,151 at the same point yesterday.
More than 1.6 million people have been tested for the virus and a total of 133,784 were carried out yesterday, the latest figures reveal, an increase of around 7,000.
NHS England has announced 186 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 24,345.
