Vernon Kay, 50, urged listeners to be wary of health issues following the cancer diagnosis of fellow presenter Chris Stark, 38.
Chris, well-known for his decade-long run on BBC Radio 1's afternoon show with Scott Mills, 51, and now a host on The Capital Breakfast Show with Jordan North, shared his personal health battle on Instagram.
He announced that he underwent surgery and chemotherapy but is now "effectively cured" after catching the disease early. The topic was raised when Vernon chatted with Scott on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning.
As both are close to Chris, the conversation was heartfelt. Vernon said during the show: "We should talk about our dear friend Chris Stark, because he announced on his social media yesterday that he's had testicular cancer." Scott confirmed the news, adding that, although initially shocked, he knew about Chris' condition for about three weeks and assured everyone that Chris is expected to recover. The discussion followed another serious health revelation Vernon addressed earlier on air with Fearne Cotton, who recounted her own scare last year when she underwent surgery to remove two benign tumours from her jaw.
