A violent lag punched one prison officer who was trying to help him and launched a 'flying kick' on another officer who was handing out toilet rolls.
Marlon Finneran, 26, broke the nose of a prison officer at HMP Forest Bank in Salford. Finneran, who was in a single cell due to his previous behaviour, started banging on the door and demanding a phone, Manchester Crown Court heard.
The officer said he would go and him one. Before opening the door, the officer checked on Finneran, who appeared to be 'calm'.
But when the officer opened the cell door, Finneran punched him once to the nose with a hard blow. He was bleeding heavily and in 'considerable pain', prosecutor Rachel Widdicombe said.
