It’s a good time to start an at-home fitness app. When Ashley Mills and her co-founder Mark Mullett created obé in 2018, she dreamed of creating an ultra-premium workout experience—as stylish and fun as the most luxurious boutique classes—that you could tap into from your living room, with an emphasis on community, not overhauling your body. “We're not a business that's about pounds and inches—not our jam, not our vibe,” says Mills. “What is our vibe and what we're excited about is helping people stay mentally well.” During the pandemic, that work has taken on a very new meaning.Between February and April, saw a tenfold increase in membership, according to the company—many of those new signups from frontline workers.
