The plight of NHS workers risking their lives on the frontline of the coronavirus battle moved Kate Middleton to tears and led her and Prince William to set up a mental health support scheme.
More than 100 medics have died as the fight to get the Covid-19 pandemic under control, with many more deeply concerned a lack of essential protective equipment is putting them in danger.
To date the virus has killed more than 20,000 in the UK's hospitals and many more in the nation's care homes. The Duchess of Cambridge was deeply moved after hearing their stories and is said to have played a "pivotal" role in setting up the Our Frontline scheme, in association with Mind, Samaritans, Hospice UK and Shout.
