The woman who started the 'clap for carers ' has said she wants it to stop after tonight. Since the start of the crisis, people across the UK have been taking to their windows and doorways every Thursday night to clap and cheer for frontline staff in the coronavirus crisis.
But Annemarie Plas, who came up with the idea from a WhatsApp group in the Netherlands she was part of, now thinks the tradition has 'carried us through the peak of the crisis'.
