BBC The One Show's Alex Jones opens up on husband's heartbreaking health battle

Alex Jones has opened up about her husband Charlie Thomson's recent health battles after revealing he went through a "really bad period" last year.

The welsh BBC host married the insurance broker back in 2015, and together they're raising their three children.However this January, The One Show presenter revealed how her partner became "a shadow of himself" while dealing with mental health struggles, the Mirror reports.Lyme Disease and viral meningitis hit Charlie hard, causing the father-of-three to mentally "fall apart".Alex shared details about Charlie's health during a chat on Gabby Logan's podcast The MidPoint, giving fans a reason to smile when she reported that he's "in a much better place now".

During her chat with the host, Alex said: "I think what drives me is the fact that we have got three young children, and I feel, for them, I need to do the best to preserve myself."Touching more on their approach to wellbeing, she added: "Mum and dad have always been healthy, growing up we've always eaten a balanced diet, but more so, Charlie and I are focused on that."Being open about the realities of last year, she further revealed: "He also wasn't very well last year."
