Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests ten days after he tested positive for coronavirus. A spokeswoman for Downing Street insisted the move was a 'precautionary step' as Mr Johnson's symptoms have persisted.
According to the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg, the Prime Minister was admitted to hospital earlier on Sunday evening for what are described as 'routine tests'.
He is expected to stay in overnight and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will chair the government's coronavirus meeting at 9.15am on Monday, the BBC reports.
Sky News correspondent Beth Rigby said Downing Street sources are insisting it was not an 'emergency admission' and that Mr Johnson went to hospital on the advice of his doctor.
