British Health Secretary urges Premier League stars to look at NHS and take pay cuts

Matt Hancock has told the Premier League’s elite and PFA to green light a wage cut and fight the coronavirus pandemic. The Health Secretary claimed players had to 'play their part' and help look after others.

Tottenham, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Norwich have faced criticism for furloughing non-playing staff while paying players in full.

In contrast, stars at La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have taken a 70 per cent pay cut. Juventus’ first team and boss Maurizio Sarri have agreed to freeze their pay for four months.
