Danny Rose has detailed a recent conversation with Jordan Henderson, saying that he is prepared to take a pay cut to help contribute to the NHS amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Health secretary Matt Hancock recently put pressure on players to take pay cuts after a number of top-flight clubs, including Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, placed staff on the government’s furlough scheme in light of football’s suspension in the UK.
But it emerged on Friday that Liverpool captain Henderson is already acting to arrange a Premier League fund for medical staff and has been in touch with skippers and senior players from across the division, including Newcastle United full-back Rose.
