Brits defy all expert advice to celebrate 'one last night of freedom' in pubs

People were advised not to go out unless they really need to last night, and to 'socially isolate' themselves - but you wouldn't have known it by the state of Britain's pubs.

Social media was swamped with images of drinkers enjoying 'one last night of freedom' despite almost two weeks of the government and NHS staff pleading with people to stay at home, the Mirror reports.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the closure of pubs, restaurants, shops, nightclubs, theatres, gyms and leisure centres to slow the spread of Covid-19 and prevent the NHS coming under unsustainable pressure.

But pub-goers appeared reluctant to give up on their social habits just yet. After hearing the pubs across the UK will close at 10pm, one person wrote
