PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania State Police and dozens of local departments are joining forces to curb aggressive driving, which some say has gotten dangerously out of control. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that more than 80 departments from Buck, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties will join the Pennsylvania State Police in a "coordinated aggressive driving enforcement wave to help reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities on area roadways."The plan will run through Apr. 23 and focus on distracted driving, speeding and work zone awareness, according to PennDOT.

PHILADELPHIA - Nearly two weeks after an attempted robbery and shooting of employees, Mayfair Pizza vows to reopen, but says it will take time.Stacy Karasavas says Mayfair Pizza, the family-owned restaurant will remain closed for the unforeseeable future, but vow to reopen as soon as they are able to.The doors shut almost two weeks ago after police say 19-year-old Kaleb Bridges attempted to rob the shop and shot both Stacy and her mother.

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden signed a bipartisan bill Monday that directs the federal government to declassify as much intelligence as possible about the origins of COVID-19 more than three years after the start of the pandemic.The legislation, which passed both the House and Senate without dissent, directs the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to declassify intelligence related to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology. It cites "potential links" between the research that was done there and the outbreak of COVID-19, which the World Health Organization declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

SOMERS POINT, N.J. - Somers Point Police have launched an investigation after they say a woman died on Saturday morning. Shortly after 7 a.m., police were dispatched to the 600 block of 3rd Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a woman who had been shot inside a residence. Authorities say the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Officials with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office say there is no threat to the public, and they are asking anyone with information to contact them as they investigate the shooting.

PHILADELPHIA - No one was hurt when authorities say someone inside a vehicle fired at police during a traffic stop Thursday in West Philadelphia.Investigators say a patrol car with two officers inside pulled over a Chevy Tahoe near the intersection of 54th and Summer streets just before 8 p.m. Deputy Commissioner Krista Dahl-Campbell told reporters someone inside the vehicle fired at least one shot at an officer who returned fire. No one was hit during the brief exchange of gunfire, according to police. Three people inside the vehicle were taken into custody and a weapon was recovered. Police say there may have been a fourth occupant of the suspect's vehicle who fled.

PHILADELPHIA - Students at a Philadelphia high school were abruptly moved to remote learning when the presence of asbestos was found in the building during a Tuesday night inspection. The Building 21 School in the city's West Oak Lane section will remain closed for the rest of the week after asbestos was found in stairwells and the auditorium. The School District of Philadelphia says it's working to clear the hazardous material, but they did not offer a timetable about when the job will be complete.Before the coronavirus pandemic, a dozen Philadelphia schools closed between 2019 and 2020 due to the presence of asbestos. SEA ISLE, N.J. - Officials say a rescue operation is now a recovery operation for a worker trapped under a concrete balcony that collapsed at an apartment building in Sea Isle City. Emergency crews responded to the building on the boardwalk between 36th and 37th streets around 2:20 p.m. for reports of a collapse.Officer Jim McQuillen from the Sea Isle City Police Department said two construction workers were on the 8th floor when the balcony collapsed onto a worker on the 7th floor. Cape May County Urban Search and Rescue Team member Matt Johnson estimated the balcony weighs between 11,000 and 15,000 pounds, causing structural concerns. The two workers on the upper floor were treated for minor injuries, according to police.

SEA ISLE, N.J. - One person is dead and two others were hurt when an upper floor balcony collapsed onto the one below it at an apartment building in Sea Isle. Emergency crews responded to the building on the boardwalk between 36th and 37th streets just before 3 p.m. A police spokesperson told FOX 29 they have not yet been able to recover the person's body who was killed. Two people who were injured were treated at the scene and released. Officials have not said what caused the collapse.

SKYFOX flew over Caln Township, where a suspect was shot by police after crashing a stolen car into a police cruiser.  PHILADELPHIA - The Chester County District Attorney's Office is investigating a shooting involving police in Caln Township. According to authorities, the incident began on Wednesday morning just before 2 a.m. when police received information about a stolen vehicle being found in the parking lot of a Wawa in Downingtown Borough. Officials say the suspect, who stole the vehicle, stole another car from the Wawa parking lot and fled from officers attempting to stop him from entering a nearby neighborhood. Police say a Caln Township officer was at the intersection of Westerham and Shelburne Road to put up stop strips when the suspect crashed into the officer's marked police car head on at a high rate of speed. The stolen car hit the police cruiser so hard that it sent the cruiser backwards about 40 years, according to the District Attorney's Office. Authorities say the officer, who was behind the cruiser, had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by the impact. As the stolen vehicle eventually came to a stop after the crash, the suspect got out of the car and began walking away from responding officers, per police. Officers shouted commands to the suspect as they approached him, officials say.

TRENTON - Prosecutors say two brothers are facing charges in a deadly stabbing that erupted during a basketball tournament that was being held at a popular arena in New Jersey's capitol. Investigators say a 23-year-old Khalil Glanton was stabbed multiple times when a large fight broke out in the concourse of CURE Insurance Arena Thursday night. Glanton, a Trenton resident, suffered stab wounds to the upper torso and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Investigators reviewed video of the fight and interviewed witnesses to determine that two brothers, Kareem Finney, 25, and Kahli Finney, 20, were responsible for the deadly stabbing. Prosecutors say the older Finney brother held Glanton while Kahli "repeatedly stabbed him." The stabbing, according to prosecutors, may have stemmed from an ongoing feud over a woman.Both brothers were charged with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
