Business Secretary Alok Sharma has tested negative for coronavirus after showing symptoms in the House of Commons yesterday.

The secretary of state took to Twitter to share the news tonight (Thursday evening). Fears were raised that prime minister Boris Johnson may have to isolate after the pair met in No 10 for a 45-minute socially distanced meeting earlier in the week.

Mr Sharma had been seen mopping his brow at the despatch box during the second reading of the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill.

He began self isolating and took a test. The results came back negative today. Taking to social media, the business secretary said: "Huge thanks to everyone for their really kind messages over the last 24 hours and my grateful thanks also
