Dozens of new hospitals could be built under plans to revive the economy after the coronavirus pandemic. Boris Johnson has asked ministers to fast-track the construction of 40 hospitals, a Tory manifesto pledge, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
The move comes as part of a new blueprint for how the Prime Minister intends to "rebuild Britain" as the country emerges from lockdown.
Under existing plans, six NHS trusts will be given £2.7 billion to develop new hospitals by 2025.
