The government was warned two years ago about the risks to care homes in a major disease pandemic, a newly-revealed report shows.
The 2018 study by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) found "demand for PPE could rapidly outstrip supply", the Guardian reports.
And it warned care workers would need advice on "controlling cross-infection" in an outbreak. Although ADASS's work focused on winter flu, the same issues have since hit headlines during the coronavirus pandemic.
Care workers have complained they have insufficient PPE - and testing was only extended to all symptomatic care home staff from April 15.
