A 12 year-old child has died of coronavirus, the NHS has confirmed. The child, who is said to have had underlying health conditions, is among the latest confirmed deaths of people who have contracted the virus.

Where in the country the death occurred or any other details about the case have not been divulged. The government announced earlier a further 157 deaths of people who has tested positive for Covid-19 had been recorded in hospitals in the last 24 hours, including eight in Greater Manchester.

These included patients aged between 12 and 100 and of these, seven – aged between 57 and 88 – had no known underlying health conditions.
