Child, 12, becomes latest coronavirus victim as UK hospital death toll nears 30,000

A 12-year-old child with underlying health conditions is among the latest coronavirus victims in England. England reported 157 new deaths, Scotland confirmed 16, Wales recorded six and Northern Ireland had one as the UK’s hospital daily toll continues to fall.

The Department of Health and Social Care’s latest official count puts the number of fatalities in all settings at 36,392, 29,500 of which are in hospitals.

Of the 180 recorded deaths, a 12-year-old boy with underlying health conditions was confirmed be the youngest person to of died from the virus in the last 24 hours.
