China has deployed medics to North Korea to check on ruler Kim Jong Un, according to a new report. Three sources have told Reuters that a team of doctors and officials left Beijing on Thursday and will "advise on" the country's leader, amid questions surrounding his health.
The delegation is understood to be led by a senior member of the Chinese Communist Party’s International Liaison Department.
Reuters says it is not immediately clear what the mission signals in terms of Kim's health. However Daily NK, a South Korea-based website, reported earlier this week that the 36-year-old leader is recovering after a cardiovascular procedure on April 12.
