Conmen posed as police to trick elderly Bolton couple into handing over thousands of pounds

Bolton are said to be 'living in fear' after scammers managed to steal thousands of pounds from them. Scammers rang the couple, pretending to be the police investigating card fraud and forged bank notes.While on the phone pretending to be a police officer, a scammer told the couple to withdraw money from their bank and hand it to a police courier who would be sent to their house in Tonge Moor, to check that the notes were not fake.The couple's son wished for his parents' identities to be protected but wants to raise awareness of the incident to stop other people falling for it.He said: "They have been really gullible but they're now living in fear as these scumbags know where they live.
