The Rovers Return is set to be axed from Coronation Street when filming resumes. The famous boozer, which has featured in the soap since its 1960 launch, will be written out of storylines until the rest of Britain's bars re-open.
Corrie star Andy Whyment, 39, who plays Kirk Sutherland, said social distancing rules brought in to safeguard the cast have called time on pub scenes.
TV bosses also fear a backlash if characters are seen quaffing pints together while viewers are barred from their own locals.
Andy said filming of the soap – halted two months ago when Britain went into lockdown – is earmarked to re-start in mid-June.
