NEW DELHI: At least 10 people, evacuated from Iran earlier this month, have tested positive for covid-19 at the Indian army’s quarantine facilities in Rajasthan, two government officials familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
Nine of the infected were lodged in the Indian army’s facility in Jaisalmer while the tenth was in Jodhpur. Unconfirmed news reports said the number of infected across the two facilities was 17.
The nine people who tested positive in Jaisalmer are among the 484 evacuees from Iran who arrived in batches during 15-17 March.
Another evacuee in Jaisalmer had tested positive two weeks ago. The person who tested positive in Jodhpur is among the 552 people who were brought from Iran during 25-29 March.
