A total of 70 residents in West Dunbartonshire have lost their lives due to confirmed or suspected coronavirus, new figures show.Statistics released by the National Records of Scotland today (Wednesday) show further 18 people have died in the past week.They report the number of instances where Covid-19 was mentioned on death certificates.Thirty-four of the deaths took place in care homes, with 32 in hospital and four at home.The figures show that for the first time, more people died from Covid-19 in West Dunbartonshire’s care homes than in hospital.
This is also the case for Scottish care homes as a whole with 51 per cent of registered Covid-19 deaths in the last week coming from Scotland’s care homes and 42 per cent coming from hospitals.W
