Japan's Yakuza gangs are being forced to double the price of drugs they are peddling and have turned to online scams after being hit hard by the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, it has been reported.

Covid-19 has so far caused the deaths of nearly 300,000 people worldwide and has led to many countries going into lockdown with huge economic ramifications being felt in industries across the globe.

It appears organised crime is also one of the many sectors to have been hit – and Japan's most notorious crime syndicate is by no means exempt from the economic effects of the crisis as profits are said to be tumbling.
