Scientists are warning coronavirus may cause cardiac injuries even in people without any underlying heart conditions. It's well known Covid-19 patients develop respiratory problems but now experts believe the heart may also be affected.
While viruses have long been known to affect heart muscle, early studies indicate Covid-19 is associated with a higher risk of heart damage compared with other viral infections.
In a review published in the journal JAMA Cardiology, scientists in the US have also said the disease can have fatal consequences for people even if they don't have pre-existing heart issues.
