Coronavirus outbreak: Study finds hydroxychloroquine may be tied to higher fatality risk for COVID-19 patients

A new study published in the Lancet medical journal on Friday has found hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug U.S. President Donald Trump said he’s been taking, could be linked to a higher death rate in COVID-19 patients.

The study cautioned against using the drug to treat COVID-19 outside of clinical trials until there is conclusive data on the drug’s safety and efficacy.
