A shopkeeper has explained his reasons for hiking up the price of hand sanitiser to £29.99 a bottle during the coronavirus crisis after customers were left baffled by the decision.
A picture shared on Facebook showed the tiny bottles were being sold for the astronomic amount at the Premier shop in Cornwall, prompting some to assume there had been a labelling error.
But the business owner insists he is not trying to profit from the pandemic and people's desperation. On the contrary, he says he is merely trying his best to help those in need.
He claims he is only making a small profit on the sanitiser, which he brings in for £25.99 a bottle from a European retailer after a complete sell-out on in Britain.
