Tourists have been urged not to travel to Scotland's islands as the coronavirus outbreak is causing ‘strain’ on medical services.
The Islands of Barra and Vatersay in the Western Isles have been reportedly closed off from the mainland since 11.40pm on Friday night.
A tweet from the Isle of Barra social media account said that medical staff on the islands have been overwhelmed by the outbreak of Covid-19.
Both islands reportedly have no access to ventilators, oxygen or testing facilities for the deadly bug. Around 1,200 people live on both Barra and Vatersay, but the islands are considered hotspots for tourists.
