Coronavirus has claimed 53 UK victims in the last 24 hours alone – as the overall death toll skyrockets to 233. It had earlier been confirmed that 4000 patients had tested positive for COVID-19, shooting up from 3983 cases with 79 recovering while London remains the most affected area.
Yesterday the death toll stood at 177. Wales has also confirmed its largest increase in coronavirus cases, with NHS figures suggesting that over 4000 people are suffering from the virus.
Two more people in Wales have died from COVID-19, bringing the total to five. One victim, a 75-year-old passed away at Singleton Hospital while a second, a 98-year-old passed away at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
