Prakash, commissioner of the GCC, told Mint. The exercise began on Sunday, the commissioner added. The move comes at a time when covid-19 cases have shot up to alarming levels in Tamil Nadu.
The decision also adds to the precautionary measures by the city corporation as the country inches closer to the end of the 21-day nationwide lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There are reports that a decision on the lifting of the lockdown will be taken close to 14 April based on the situation in the country.
