When you review the latest letter from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) to Government on restrictions it recommends, there are stark differences between its position and the latest measures introduced.
The Government has introduced some of the measures, but not others, and has also softened its language in a few areas. Experts advise, ministers decide, as has been observed before.
On closing time for pubs and restaurants that are open, NPHET wanted it to be brought back to 10.30pm. The Government yesterday extended the closing time to 11.30pm.
Part of the reason was to try to make house parties less attractive. In terms of outbreaks, we have yet to hear details of any case linked to a pub.
