NEW DELHI: The Centre and states will ensure there is enough supply of essential goods such as food and medicines amid a nationwide lockdown for three weeks to combat the coronavirus pandemic, Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said. “We have asked states and districts to come up with helpline numbers soon.
Some states have already implemented it," Javadekar said briefing reporters after the meeting of the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The minister urged citizens to refrain from panic buying as essential commodities. The minister said states are announcing fiscal measures to take care of million of workers in the informal sector and daily wage workers affected by the lockdown.
