Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He is the first prime minister outside of the Indian National Congress to win two consecutive terms with a full majority and the second to complete five years in office after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reaching out to social influencers to mobilise public opinion in the battle against covid-19 pandemic.
Modi has held over a dozen of meetings in the last fortnight via video conferencing with social influencers, including religious heads and sportspersons.
The latest meeting by Modi was held on Friday in which he spoke to 40 sports personalities through video conferencing to discuss ideas on ways to fight covid-19 and keep people motivated during the countrywide lockdown.
The list of sportspersons on Friday who interacted with Modi, included Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly, Indian men’s cricket team captain Virat Kohli, ace cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj
