Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He is the first prime minister outside of the Indian National Congress to win two consecutive terms with a full majority and the second to complete five years in office after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Covid-19: PM Modi urges states to focus on contact-tracing, remain vigilant
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged chief ministers of states to remain on high alert and focus on contact-tracing to arrest the spread of novel coronavirus infections in the country. “The common goal for the country is to ensure minimum loss of life.
In the next few weeks, testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine should remain the areas of focus," Modi said, asking states to ensure availability of essential medical supplies. “It is necessary to ensure availability of separate, dedicated hospital facilities for covid-19 patients," the prime minister said.
He asked states to tap AYUSH doctors, organise online training and utilize para-medical staff, and also deploy NCC (National Cadet Corps) and National Service
