A devastated family say they were terrified that if their teenage girl remained on a mental health ward, she would die there.
Their worst fears were confirmed when, earlier this year, Nevaeh Owen died a few months after being transferred onto an adult ward in the grounds of the Royal Bolton Hospital.
At Bolton Coroner’s Court today (August 6), ahead of an inquest into Nevaeh’s death, the family’s legal representatives told of how the teenager’s mother and father feared that ‘if Nevaeh remained on Oak Ward she would die’.
The court then heard how Oak Ward had been slammed by hospital regulators for major safety risks during an inspection in 2022, two years before her death.
