A suspect arrested in connection with a horror triple stabbing attack in Gorton has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Emergency services were called to the knife attack on Barnard Road on Sunday evening (August 18). Three people were stabbed and left with serious injuries.
Mum Alberta Obinim, 43, tragically died at the scene. Her husband, local Baptist church leader Joshua Obinim, 64, and the couple's 17-year-old daughter were rushed to hospital, where they remain. The teenage victim is now said to be stable after undergoing emergency surgery. The suspect, a 22-year-old man originally arrested on suspicion of murder, has since been detained and is under the care of mental health professionals, GMP said.
