The parents of a girl who was stabbed to death by a stranger on Mother’s Day have paid tribute to their “beautiful” daughter.
Emily Jones, seven, was enjoying a family day out in a park when she was attacked by a woman, 30. Her killer, who was chased and held by a member of the public until the police arrived, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and detained under the Mental Health Act.
Yesterday her parents – who witnessed the stabbing – released a moving statement and a photograph of their daughter. They said: “Emily was our only child and the light of our lives.
She was always full of joy, love and laughter. “Emily had such a cheeky smile and was beautiful inside and out. She had a heart as big as her smile. “Emily was never happier
