NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A family is in mourning after a father of three was shot and killed by a stray bullet while driving for Uber in North Philadelphia.Friday, a mass and religious service was held for 34-year-old Michael Almonte a the church he attended, while police still search for whoever fired the fatal shot.Almonte’s priest, Reverend Roberto Gurrola, says the church is where Almonte spent most of his time and it was at the church his family gathered to mourn Almonte and lay him to rest, describing him as a loving father, husband and God-fearing man."He’s one of those persons that you would think God would protect him," Father Gurrola said.But, on the night of June 14th, the 34-year-old’s life was cut short while working for Uber. PHOENIX - Several electric semi trucks caught fire in an industrial area near 40th Street and Broadway early Friday morning, triggering a large response from HAZMAT crews in Phoenix and Tempe."I just heard an explosion, and I came out, the semis were all on fire," said John Frank.The lithium-ion battery fire is burning at the Nikola Corporation building, and officials are calling it difficult and tricky to fight. COVID-19 and COVID-19 mRNA vaccines on the heart is getting a boost in funding following reports of rare cases of myocarditis and pericarditis during the pandemic.The study, called the Canadian Cardiovascular Society National Active Surveillance Study of Myocarditis and/or Pericarditis following mRNA COVID-19 Vaccination (MYCOVACC), will receive an additional $2 million from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) over two years.In all, the study will have a total investment of $3.6 million over three years.According to a news release, the funding will allow the study to expand and extend patient follow-up and perform cardiac imaging on those affected.“(The study) is working to determine if people who experience these rare heart conditions are at increased risk of future health problems,” said cardiologist Dr. Nathaniel Hawkins, who leads the study.MYCOVACC began in October 2022 in response to reports of rare cases of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the lining surrounding the heart muscle) following mRNA vaccines and COVID-19 infection.“While most people make a full recovery after myocarditis and pericarditis, long-term outcomes warrant further investigation,” the news release reads.

PHILADELPHIA - An investigation is underway with homicide detectives after a man was fatally shot on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. Authorities say the shooting took place on the 6700 block of Woodland Avenue just after 8 p.m. According to officials, 31-year-old Hakeem Sehneah was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say officers transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:23 p.m. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficials say Sehneah lived on the 6700 block of Woodland Avenue where the shooting erupted. Detectives say the investigation is active and ongoing.
