New Delhi: Union minister for labour and employment and environment, forest and climate change, Bhupender Yadav on Thursday highlighted the significant strides made in labour policy reforms over the past nine years, emphasizing the empowerment of workers through the provision of minimum wages, job security, social security, and health security.

Addressing a press conference held in New Delhi, focusing on the achievements of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Yadav commended the country’s ongoing transformation and simplification of labour laws, resulting in the consolidation of 29 labour laws into four simplified labour codes.

This streamlining is aimed at ensuring the empowerment of workers and providing them with essential protections. The minister highlighted several flagship schemes implemented for the welfare of workers.

He emphasized the e-Shram Portal, which serves as a national database for unorganised workers. To date, over 28.93 crore unorganised workers from more than 400 occupations have registered on the portal, with more occupations set to be added.
