Doctor Odyssey's Joshua Jackson Addresses Popular 'Fever Dream' Theory About the TV Show

Max Bankman (Jackson) never recovered from COVID, and The Odyssey isn’t a ship, but rather the afterlife. With a March 20 crossover episode with 9-1-1 on the way featuring Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), Joshua spoke to the idea. “We’ve already established that Max has brought the television viewing that he was doing while in the COVID isolation room into the fantasy that is The Odyssey,” he said, referring to Episode 3, when “Human Ken” boarded the ship for a week. “Perhaps 9-1-1 was running as well, and he has brought that character into his fantasy,” Joshua speculated. “I like this theory a lot,” he added, although he pointed out some plot holes. “Max imagines other people having sex a lot if it is his COVID fever dream,” he amusingly explained.
