'Avengers' Directors Imply Iron Man's Death Leads to Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Reveal

It was announced last year that Robert Downey, Jr. would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka the MCU) in a brand new role, Doctor Doom.

However, Robert originated the role of Iron Man in the franchise films. Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame.

A big question fans have for the future of Marvel and the MCU is…how will Robert be brought back as a brand new villain, given his death as superhero Iron Man?

Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo were asked this very question in a new interview. Keep reading to find out more… While they basically refused to answer how they will accomplish this, they did share that there WILL be an explanation, implying Iron Man’s death somehow paves the way for Robert to play Doctor Doom. Anthony Russo told The Times, “We can’t explain that as it’s part of the story…But there’s nobody else in the world who could play this character the way he’s about to.”
