in a TikTok video.“My brother is fighting for his life far away from home,” Morán, 32, said in Spanish in a clip posted on Thursday, April 3.

Morán added that Masalva — who played Ramon Arellano Felix in the “Narcos” spinoff — “fell victim to a very aggressive virus” while on vacation, although he did not specify where exactly the incident occurred.“This led him to an induced coma,” Morán continued. “As of today, his situation remains delicate.”Masalva’s close friend later shared a GoFundMe link to help raise money for the actor and any unexpected hospital bills he might incur as he continues to “fight for his life.”“The medical costs are enormous, and in a country where everything is more difficult, any help, no matter how small, can make the difference in this very difficult moment,” Morán said. “If you can contribute, we thank you with our entire hearts.”The GoFundMe page, which was created on Monday, April 1, repeated that the “Narcos: Mexico” actor contracted an “unknown bacteria” and was in “serious condition.” An update on Masalva’s condition was then added on Thursday.“Manu remains in critical condition; the bacteria has already been detected,” the post, written in Spanish, read. “He’s on antibiotics, and we’re waiting for him to begin to improve.”“Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far; your generosity and support are crucial during this difficult time for Manuel and his loved ones,” a message written on behalf of the star’s family said. “We deeply appreciate the generosity of acquaintances, friends, and family.”“Thank you for continuing to share this campaign on your social media so we can reach more people who can help,” the GoFundMe page continued.

Study: Vitamin D Insufficiency Worsens Sleep Problems in Children with ADHD
April 29, 2025Vitamin D insufficiency worsens sleep problems in children with ADHD, but it does not directly affect the condition’s symptoms or functional impairments, a recent study published in Frontiers in Psychology found.1Children with ADHD are more likely to experience vitamin D deficiencies than are children without ADHD, according to previous research.2 However, this study found no causal relationship or direct link between ADHD symptoms and vitamin D insufficiency.Scientists did find that low vitamin D levels (below 30 ng/mL) can worsen sleep difficulties, impairing sleep quality and worsening sleep disordered breathing, in children with ADHD.The researchers wrote that sleep difficulties “increased daytime sleepiness, inattention, and oppositional defiant disorder symptoms in children.” Additionally, it was found that sleep disordered breathing can affect a child’s attention, focus, hyperactivity, memory, and executive functioning, essentially exacerbating ADHD symptoms.Nearly three-quarters of children with ADHD experience a sleep problem or disorder.3 Additionally, up to half of children with ADHD have sleep problems, such as difficulty sleeping, insomnia, night waking, and hypersomnia.4, 5This is the first study, to the researchers’ knowledge, that examines whether vitamin D insufficiency exacerbates sleep problems and symptoms in children with ADHD.
