Dr Alex George has paid tribute to a brave frontline nurse who tragically passed away after contracting the coronavirus. The former Love Island star, 27, took to social media to praise 36-year-old Areema Nasreen.

Taking to Twitter, the A&E doctor expressed his sadness that the NHS had lost another courageous staff member during the horrific pandemic.

In a short but touching Tweet, Alex penned: "We have lost another nurse today, Areema Nasreen who was only 36. Rest in peace".

The previously healthy mum-of-three died at Walsall Manor Hospital just two weeks after she was diagnosed with Covid-19. Areema was said to have contracted coronavirus after she treated a number of patients suspected of having the deadly bug.
