Emmerdale will be cutting episodes down to two a week from three, after the coronavirus pandemic halted filming this year. It had recently been confirmed that filming had continued in the studios, and cast and crew had to follow social distancing rules to stay within guidelines.
The soap has also revealed that six special lockdown episodes would be aired with limited characters indoors. ITV has now confirmed that the show will remain on air for the foreseeable future, but with reduced episodes.
From Monday June 8, the soap will only air twice a week, but will return to three a week as soon as it is possible. It will air on Mondays and Wednesdays.
