Ireland's incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people over the past 14 days is now 25.4, according to figures released by the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC).
That is higher than Italy (10.7), Germany (17.9) and the UK (20.9). Spain has the highest incidence rate in the EU/EEA and UK, at 138.7 per 100,000.
A map from the ECDC shows two regions in Ireland, as well as Northern Ireland, as having 20 to 59.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Its Mid-East region, which includes Kildare, has a rate of 60 to 119.9 – a rate that is among the highest in Europe. On 7 August, the Government announced a tightening of restrictions in Kildare, Laois and Offaly following a spike in the number of cases there.
