Families face a tough choice between grandparents as new lockdown rules come in this weekend. Many grandparents be able to hug their grandchildren for the first time in months as new rules allow households to create “support bubbles”.
Grandparents are already allowed to see their loved ones in groups of less than six and from a distance of two metres outdoors.
But the government's bubble announcement will force families to pick just one grandparent to visit indoors or stay overnight with.
And those elderly people who don't live alone will miss out in the new rule - meaning it could be some time yet before the 'support' bubble becomes a reality for many grandparents.
