Not a single traveller to the UK has been fined for breaking the new 14-day quarantine rules in their first week, the government revealed today.

New arrivals in the UK - including returning Brits - must now isolate for 14 days after entering the country to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Those who refuse to tell Border Force their isolation address can be fined £100, while those who abscond can be fined £1,000.

But critics have claimed the rules could easily be evaded by those wishing to cheat the system. Today it was confirmed that since the policy launched a week ago, not one fine has been issued.
