Family ensure terminally ill Cleland mum celebrates her birthday in style after pandemic puts paid to trip away
A terminally ill mum had a birthday to remember – despite coronavirus putting paid to a host of celebrations.Brave Sandra Mitchell was due to mark her 50th birthday in style with a party and a trip to Ireland until the COVID-19 pandemic wiped those dreams away.But undeterred Sandra’s husband William, pictured with her above, and other family and friends pulled together to give Sandra the birthday of her dreams.This included an online quiz with the family from Sandra’s home in Cleland, messages from her friends across the world and even a piper to play on her special day.William said: “Sandra had been battling breast cancer and was then diagnosed with secondary brain cancer and the doctors told us there was nothing they could do for her.“She
