A former B&M Bargains warehouse is to become the new home of an all-boys Jewish independent school. Yeshivah Ohr Torah School has been granted permission to relocate to the one-time distribution site at Bevingdon Square in Broughton.
It means the orthodox Jewish school - which serves the Hasidic Jewish community of Broughton Park - is set to leave its current base at Broom Lane.
The proposals - which will see the old warehouse converted and a new building constructed on the site - were passed unanimously by a virtual meeting of Salford council’s planning committee.
The new school is intended to cater for 120 male pupils aged 11 and over. Addressing the committee, governor Shaya Leitner stressed that the new school was urgently needed.
