Greece, France and Italy opened up beaches on Saturday as part of plans to carefully ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Hundreds of people flocked to European beaches in a bid to make up for time spent indoors. In Greece, more than 500 beaches reopened as government officials look to revive the tourism sector, business which many livelihoods depend on.
Pictures from the Greek coastline show large groups of people playing in the sea, with several choosing to stay put and enjoy the weather from a lounger.
As people left the beach and more arrived, a man carrying disinfectant spray was pictured washing the sunbeds after each use.
