Grey's Anatomy might have seen a wane in its viewership of late, but the arrival of a new popular cast member is set to infuse some life into the long-running ABC medical drama.
Sophia Bush, best known for her role in One Tree Hill, is confirmed by Deadline to be joining Grey's Anatomy, taking on the part of a trauma surgeon in what will be a recurring character arc.
Her debut in the ongoing 21st season of Grey's Anatomy comes as the show prepares to say goodbye to significant characters Mika Yasuda (played by Midori Francis) and Levi Schmitt (portrayed by Jake Borelli) within the year.
While Grey's was once a staple in the top ten most-viewed TV shows in America, the series has seen a notable drop in ratings as it entered the 2020s, although its 20th season still managed an average viewership just north of 5 million episodes.
